I couldn't help but be thinking of all of you the last three weeks.
Three weeks ago I collected juniper branches from the mountains and
brewed a batch of Bouldersdricke. I made a 20 liter batch. Boiled the
branches for 1 1/2 hours and used the water to mash the special Gotland
malt that Lillis made and gave me on Gotland Island. The wort smelled
fantastic! The beer was made all the more authentic because I used the
yeast that Jesper bought for me in Stockholm. It was the bread yeast
that is used on Gotland. It survived the long journey. I kept it in
my refrigerator and when it came time to pitch the yeast I took a
sterile knife and cut away the mold that grew on the outside. I used
about one square centimeter of yeast for 20 liters. Fermentation took
off like a bomb, just as all of you had told me. I didn't believe that
so little yeast could be so active.

Last Sunday I bottled and kegged the beer. It tasted very promising
and I can't wait to share the beer you all shared with me. There is a
lot of SWEDEN in this beer I can assure you.

I will let you know in a couple of weeks how well the beer turned out.

Han skrev lite mer också, bl.a att han kommer till Europa i maj 96 också.
